Drive-In Rack in Myrtle Beach, SC
Drive-in rack lets the forklift enter a lane and place pallets on support rails. It reduces the number of access aisles by storing repeat loads several pallets deep. Conventional drive-in handling is last-in, first-out, so rotation must fit the inventory.
Food and grocery users around Loris, Conway and the Grand Strand distribution corridor need to weigh that density against access. A lane that holds many pallets is useful only when the operator can load and retrieve the intended product without unnecessary reshuffling.
Use Deep Lanes for Repeat Loads
Begin with pallets per stock item, seasonal peaks and the sequence in which loads leave storage. Drive-in fits repeated product quantities better than a wide mix of single pallets. Date-sensitive inventory may need a different arrangement, such as pallet flow, when first-in, first-out movement is essential.
Ahead of the Grand Strand’s spring and summer peak, grocery and foodservice inventories increase. Review the lane count at that peak and after it. A very deep lane that stays partly empty for much of the year may not produce the practical storage gain expected.
The Forklift Must Fit Inside the System
Truck width, mast dimensions, load width, rail spacing and operating clearances belong on the same drawing. Entry alignment is different from working at a selective rack face. Confirm the driver’s approach, the load overhang and capacity at the highest intended placement.
Loris’s US-701 industrial corridor includes rail-connected manufacturing land, while Conway has both smaller flex stock and newer Ascott Valley construction. Do not carry one rack height from a building brochure into another warehouse without measuring the usable space.
Cold Storage and Installation Sequencing
For coolers and freezers, describe the operating temperature and moisture exposure. Discuss powder coat versus galvanized finish in those conditions and in coastal unconditioned buildings. Pallet supports and lane dimensions still need to match the loads; the environment does not replace the handling checks.
Set aside a work zone for the installation and keep receiving movements out of the rack assembly area. Hot, humid summer staging and June–November storm planning are part of arranging an installation window for the Myrtle Beach market.

Drive-In Rack Questions
What type of pallet rack do I need?
Selective (teardrop) rack is the default when mixed items each need direct access. Pushback stores two to six pallets deep by item on a last-in, first-out basis; pallet flow suits dated stock needing first-in, first-out rotation; drive-in fits bulk storage of few items; cantilever carries long loads; carton flow serves case picking.
What aisle width do I need?
The lift truck sets the aisle. A counterbalance forklift needs roughly 12 to 13 feet, a reach truck about 8 to 10 feet, and very-narrow-aisle equipment around 5 to 6 feet. Aisle width drives storage density more than almost anything else.
How much does pallet rack cost?
There is no single price. Cost depends on pallet positions, frame height, beam capacity, decking, freight and installation. Send your pallet size, heaviest load per level, clear height and building size and we return a free CAD layout with an itemized quote.
